The Coalition for Responsible Energy Development in New Brunswick (CRED-NB) is fighting for a renewable energy future without fossil fuels or nuclear energy on our electricity grid.
New Brunswick is the only province outside Ontario with an operating nuclear power reactor, NB Power’s Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station on the Bay of Fundy. The Peskotomuhkati Nation never consented to having a nuclear plant on their homeland. Both the original build and re-build went over budget and currently make up most of NB Power’s unsustainable debt. The nuclear plant is a financial disaster for New Brunswick’s ratepayers and taxpayers, yet the province wants to build another reactor. CRED-NB actively opposes this and works with allies across Canada also fighting the powerful nuclear industry.
