Reducing energy demand

All credible analyses of the potential for renewables to replace dirty energy sources are premised on aggressive demand reduction as the first priority. It simply will not be possible for renewables to support the current scale of energy use.

The two – demand reduction and supply replacement with renewables – are inseparable, and the latter doesn’t make sense without the former.

Visit the Renewables NB energy efficiency page for some pointers on how energy consumption can be reduced in homes and buildings.
